The other day, Adamchen asked about buying a 93 300ZX, DC warned about $100-$200/month maintenance expense, KomplexZ 2nd, but Carlos$-91NA-2+2 said "no freaking way", Ali said "Good God", and I said I bet it could be $100.+ per month and that I'd report back later as I keep this type of information. Here goes the maintenance expense history for a 94TT that was purchased as a Dealer Demo on Feb. 3, 1996 with 7,560 miles on it. Feb. 96 (7,560 miles) to Dec. 31, 2003 (217,000 miles). Expense for outside labor: $ 540.00 Expense for OEM parts: $3,445.00 Expense for tires: $5,030.00 Total Maintenance Exp: $9,015.00 Average $ per 1,000 miles: $ 43.04 Lowest year Avg. $ per 1,000 miles: $ 23.03 Highest year Avg. $ per 1,000 miles: $ 69.64 Average Cost per Month: $ 94.89 NOTES: Outside labor $540.00: 1st clutch replacement, professional buff job, resurface fly wheel, periodic tire balancing. No maintenance due to damage/accidents except for $130.00 outside labor cost for professional buff job on paint (never use that red turtle wax rubbing compond to remove water spots!). Tire expense includes mounting, balancing, tax..total expense. And, I have typically taken the tires to their limit..perhaps a bit too far sometimes! Everything works on the car except I need to do the clock repair procedure...gets dim from time to time. And, one of the cruise control lights on the dash will not illuminate sometimes...but cruise itself works fine. Car is completely stock, no mods and still has original starter, alternator and turbos. All still work good. The car does need new fuel injectors now...but will be 2004 expense. MILES/EXPENSE PER YEAR: 1996 (11 months) 31,440 miles $1,710. 1997 30,000 $1,395. 1998 33,000 $ 760. 1999 39,500 $1,335. 2000 27,500 $1,600. 2001 21,000 $ 545. 2002 14,000 $ 975. 2003 13,000 $ 695. Maybe this information will help the people who are new to the Z32 and are curious what it costs for maintenance to keep the car as factory delivered? Regards, Jim
